MOYU is in business to reforest the planet, trees is all they are about. That’s why they are on the mission to revolutionise the paper industry. How? They offer stone-paper notebooks designed for multiple uses, aiming to revolutionize the way we think about paper. Led by founder, Roel Schatorjé, often referred to as “C-Tree-O”,. MOYU is expanding its business internationally with a focus on the European market. In this case, we explore how Moyu prioritizes its team's well-being to ensure a productive, healthy, and happy work environment.

Planting the seeds for team well-being 🌱

To MOYU, team well-being has been one of their priorities from the start. Each team member gets the space to focus on their well-being. As Roel Schatorjé explains: "We ask our employees to first take care of themselves. Do they need a workout during working hours? Please go if you need it. In need of a longer break? Please do so. In this manner, we try to accommodate the needs of our people.”

However, they also recognize the unique challenges faced by their young team. Roel questions whether everyone actually has the tools they need to set boundaries and ensure their well-being. Considering the nature of the team and high-pace environment of MOYU they were looking for more guidance on this matter, that’s when they came across Noon.

Prioritizing Well-being for Productivity 🚀

With a team of 12 full-time employees and up to 8 freelancers and interns, maintaining everyone's well-being can be a logistical challenge. This especially proved to be important in times of higher workload. An example of this is the rebranding of MOYU. Since the company existed there were different people involved in shaping and creating the brand. That’s why they felt the need to align everyone.

This is of course a busy period. On top of that, the rebranding took place simultaneously during a new financing round. With some employees working from abroad this could potentially become a challenge. Roel Schatorjé shared his initial concerns:

"I had a feeling like: How can I make sure everyone is doing well while not being in the same room with them? I had a feeling that the pace was picking up, but I did not have the resources to continuously check in with the team.”

Noon became a tool in addressing these challenges. By providing valuable insights into the team’s workload, MOYU spotted that the workload in that period was indeed higher than normal which sparked the conversation how to deal with workload over time.

Empowering Teams with Proactive insights

As founder Roel Schatorjé mentions, "Noon happens seamlessly within Slack, making it a non-intrusive part of our daily workflow." This non-intrusive approach allows team members to reflect on their work and emotions without disruptions.

By fostering a culture of well-being and self-awareness, Noon not only enhances productivity but also ensures that each team member feels supported in their journey towards a healthier work-life balance.
